Note:
Reflashing the system is a way to solve system bootup failure, blank screen, etc.
Reflashing the system requires a Windows computer or laptop.
It is recommended that you contact your local reseller first before doing so.
Tools:
- A computer with the Windows OS.
- USB cable (Within Accessory Box).
- Micro-USB cable (Data transferring) (Optional)
Download links:
(Only suitable for Windows OS)
Step 1 - Download the data from the Beambox II
⚠︎ If your machine cannot power on or connect to your computer, please skip this step. After completing the reflash, simply perform the advanced camera calibration again.
- Update the firmware to version 6.0.7 or above.
- Update Beam Studio to version 2.3.1 or above.
- Selecting the "Machine→Machine's Name→Camera Calibration Data→Download Data."
The file downloaded will be in .zip format and named after your machine's name.
For example, Beambox II (Timothy) .zip.
Step 2 - Install the driver and launch the reflash software
Install the driver and launch the reflash software after downloading it.
Step 3 - Connect the USB cable
Turn off the machine and connect the USB cable to the computer.
Step 4 - Turn on the machine
As the picture shows, open the right-side cover and find a button below the screen.
Once the button is found, press and hold it, and then turn on the machine.
⚠︎ Please do not release the button before the machine is detected.
The button looks like this:
Step 5 - Confirm the connection
⚠︎ Please do not release the button before the machine is detected.
Check the software. The words at the bottom should be changed from "No Devices Found" to
"Found One LOADER Device."
This indicates the machine has entered "Burning Mode," and the button can be released.
If the words at the bottom remain "No Devices Found," this indicates the software does not detect the RK board. In this case, there will be two options to consider.
- Restart your computer once.
Repeat Step 4 and Step 5 until the RK board is detected.
(If, after trying several times, this still can't get it to work, please try the other method with a Micro-USB cable.)
- Restart your computer once.
Use a Micro-USB to connect the RK board. Please refer to the video below.
(Please ensure that the cable can transfer data; otherwise, it won't work.)
Step 6 - Start reflash
Extract the downloaded firmware.
Select the firmware and start the process.
Step 7 - Check the Reflashing Status
When it shows "reset device success" on the right side status, then the reflashing is successful.
If it doesn't show "reset device success" on the right side status, it could fail on reflash. Please contact customer service and attach a screenshot of the software.
Step 8 - Reflash successfully
Once the process is finished, the machine will restart. The light and screen will be off first.
After a few minutes, the light and screen will be on again.
The screen will be "Initializing" for about 3 minutes to 5 minutes before entering the main page.
Step 9 - Update the firmware
After entering the main page, the process of reflashing is done.
Please refer to the guidance below to connect to the WiFi and update the firmware to the latest version.
Step 10 - Upload the data
Run the Beam Studio version 2.3.1 or above and select the "Machine→Machine's Name→Camera Calibration Data→Upload Data→Choose the file downloaded in Step 1."
Step 11 - Calibrate the camera
Please calibrate the camera again to attain the correct preview.
