Description
If your auto-focus function is down, you can continue your work using manual focus while waiting for the FLUX support.
This guide will show you how to make a manual focus tool without the auto-focus function.
Step 1
Please prepare the following materials:
- A piece of solid material such as acrylic or wood..etc. (3mm thickness is recommended)
- Coins or materials that have a thickness of 3mm - 4mm.
The coins will be used to measure the focus distance and are easier to get.
USD >> US quarters (25¢) x 2 pcs (1.75mm x 2 = 3.5mm) |
EUR >> 50 cents x 2 pcs (2.3mm x 2 = 4.6mm) |
TWD >> $10 coins x 2 pcs (1.9mm x 2 = 3.8mm) |
...etc. (You can search or measure the thickness of the coins you have) |
Step 2
Put the material in the work area.
Step 3
Ensure the lens is in the default layer (Top). Please read through the explanation below to learn the concept of the lens' position and the focus distance.
Focus Mode Explanation
By default, the focus lens will be at the top, and the focus lens will be 4mm, meaning the distance between the nozzle tip and the surface of the material will have a distance of 4mm. How do you change the position of the lens?
|
Step 4
- Place the coins or other on the material and use the knob to focus manually.
- Once the nozzle tip touches the coin, the focus is done and the coins can be removed.
Step 5
Please ensure you have the following software version.
Beam Studio Version 2.4.6 or above (Guide) |
|
Step 6
Import the focus probe file using the "Examples" option.
Step 7
There are two methods to determine the starting point of the task.
- Use the camera preview function to place the file on the material.
OR
- Use the "Current Position" function to determine the starting point of the task.
(The laser nozzle has to move to the material first.)
Step 8
-
Set the correct parameters based on your material.
- Start the task.
Step 9
The focus tool is now ready.
Focus Tool Explanation
- The tip of the tool has a thickness of 4mm, and we will use it to focus.
- This tool can replace the coins.
