A path object in vector editing software is like a drawing made of connected dots, called nodes. You can create a path using the pen tool or change shapes like text, rectangles, ovals, and polygons into a path.
When you have more than one path or shape, you can mix them in different ways using special actions called boolean operations. These actions let you join paths (union), find where they overlap (intersect), take one path away from another (subtract), or show the differences between them (differentiate).
Boolean Operation
Icon | Operation | Description |
Union | Combine multiple closed vector graphics into one. | |
Subtract |
Remove overlapping parts of two closed vector graphics. |
|
Intersect |
Keep only the overlapping parts of closed vector graphics. |
|
Difference |
Keep only the non-overlapping parts of closed vector graphics. |
Options
Infill
Create infill for the path object for engraving or printing.
Actions
Auto Arrange
Automatically re-arrange the objects within minimal space.
Offset
Extend or shrink the contour of the path objects.
Array
Create a repetitive layout of the path objects.
