Description:
If you cannot find the vertical spot on the tape at the nozzle tip, or if it is too small, it means your vertical optical path (Z-axis) is offset too much and is difficult to adjust with the focus lens installed.
Therefore, this article will explain how to check and adjust the vertical optical path without the focus lens installed.
Before You Start:
Please make sure that the optical path from your first mirror to your second mirror, and from your second mirror to your third mirror are properly aligned. Otherwise, the steps on the following page might make your optical path condition worse.
Please refer to the instructions in 4-10 Optical Path Adjustment, from Step 1 to Step 11, to ensure the aforementioned optical paths are correctly aligned.
Step 1 - Prepare the tools:
1 | Double-sided tape
2 | Double-ended wrench
3 | Pliers
Step 2 - Lower the work platform:
Press the down button on the control panel or manually turn the knob counterclockwise to lower the work platform to its lowest position.
| Panel | Knob |
Step 3 - Remove the nozzle and focus lens:
The ring nut must be turned clockwise to be loosened.
After loosening the ring nut, the nozzle can be removed from the laser head assembly.
You will see the focus lens, nozzle, ring nut, and lens mount. Please keep these parts safe and leave the air tube connected.
Step 4 - Ensure the air tube is not in the path of the laser
Check if the air tube is in the path of the laser. Just make sure the air tube is not blocking the entrance to the third mirror.

Incorrect Position |
Step 5 - Reset the vertical optical path (Z-axis) of the third mirror:
Use the double-ended wrench and pliers to loosen the 3 nuts on the third mirror.
Turn these three screws counterclockwise until there is no gap between the mirror mount and the base, or completely loosen the screws but do not take them out.
When there is no gap between them, the vertical optical path has been successfully reset.
Step 6 - Apply tape and perform a pulse test:
Move the laser head to the center of the work platform and perform 3 pulse tests.
(Go to the Control Panel >> tap "Motors" >> manually move the laser head >> close the door cover >> perform 3 pulses)
Step 7 - Determine the position of the vertical spot:
Remove the tape and check the position of the spot.
There are only three possible positions: middle, left, and right.

1. Middle position:
|
|
2. Left position:
|
|
3. Right position: If your spot is on the right side as shown in the image above, it means the output angle of your laser tube is too low and cannot be adjusted. Please stop here and contact your local reseller or official support for further assistance. |
Step 8 - Tighten all the nuts on the third mirror:
After the adjustment is complete, tighten all the nuts to secure the position.
Step 9 - Reinstall the nozzle:
|
Step 10 - Return to the standard optical path adjustment process:
Please note that this instruction does not mean your optical path adjustment is complete.
To continue the optical path adjustment process, please return to the Standard Optical Path Adjustment process.
