When to Reflash the SD Card
If your machine’s screen shows any of the following issues, we recommend reflashing the SD card:
#1 – The screen is stuck on a highlighted “Connecting to Machine” message
#2 – Random codes or garbled text appear on the screen
#3 – The machine cannot boot properly (shows a blue or black screen)
Step 1 - Remove the SD card
1-1. Remove the screw and open the right cover when the machine is off.
1-2. Lift the plate, find the micro SD card on the mainboard, and identify the mainboard version. (black version or green version)
Green version:
Black version:
⚠︎ If your mainboard is a black version with no SD card, it means you have the EMMC version RK board.
Please refer to this article for reflashing the system: 7-5-2 Beambox/Beambox Pro - Reflashing the EMMC Version RK board (without SD card)
Step 2 - Download the system ISO file
Download the system ISO file that needs to reflash into the SD card from the link below:
Click here for the green version. (Firmware 4.1.9, use zip file directly)
Click here for the black version (Firmware 4.1.9, use zip file directly)
Step 3 - Download the burn process software
The burning processes on the Windows/macOS system are similar. Please select the software that best fits your operating system. The link is as follows –
https://www.balena.io/etcher/
Step 4 - Reflash the SD card
Connect a card reader to your computer and plug in the SD card to the reader.
There is no need to format the SD card before the burning process.
Activate the burn process software, and select your operating system to begin.
This process will take around 20-30 minutes.
a. When launching the flashing software, right-click on it and select “Run as administrator.”
b. Download and install Balena Etcher version 1.18.11: Mac installer download link, Windows installer download link.
c. Try using a different SD card with at least 8GB of capacity.
Step 5 - Plug in the SD card
After completing the burn process, please insert the SD card back into the machine, power it on, and let it run for a while. The burning process will be completed during this time.
If you encounter a blue screen after inserting the SD card and powering the machine, as mentioned below, it signifies a failed burning process or an incorrect file version. In this case, please proceed with reflashing the firmware again.
⚠︎ When the burning process is completed, do NOT cut off the power supply before the first activation. This process might damage the system files previously burned or cause the SD card to malfunction.
⚠︎ If your machine model is the Beambox Pro, please send a task (try to engrave at least one object).
The workspace will then change to the Pro version.
