Description:
If your vertical dots can't be found or they are way too small on the nozzle tip tape, it indicates that your vertical path (Z-axis) is off too much, and it will be hard to adjust with the focus lens on.
Therefore, this article will show you how to check and adjust the vertical path without the focus lens.
Before you start:
Please make sure your 1st to 2nd mirror path and the 2nd to 3rd mirror path are well aligned. Otherwise, the steps on this page will make your optical path worse. (How to check?)
Step 1 - Tool Preparation:
1|Double-sided tape
2|Double-head wrench
3|Pliers
Step 2 - Lower the Bed:
Lower the bed to the bottom by turning the knob counterclockwise.
Step 3 - Disassemble the Nozzle and the Focus Lens:
The ring has to go clockwise in order to be loosened.
After loosening the ring, the nozzle can be detached from the laser head assembly.
There will be the nozzle and the ring. Please keep the ring secure and leave the hose connected.
Step 4 - Put the Nozzle aside:
Put the nozzle with the hose above or behind the plastic chain in case getting hit by the laser beam while making pulses.
Good position:
Bad position:
Step 5 - Reset the Vertical Path (Z-axis) from the 3rd Mirror:
Use the double-head wrench and the pliers to loosen the 3 nuts on the 3rd mirror.
Rotate these three screws counter-clockwise until there is no gap between the mirror holder and the seat or loosen the screws completely but do not take them out.
When there is no gap between them, it indicates the vertical path has been reset.
Step 6 - Putting Tape and Making Pulses:
Place a piece of one-layer double-sided tape underneath the laser head and press it against the entrance in order to form a pressed mark.
Move the laser head to the center of the bed and make 3 pulses.
(Go to Maintain >> Press "Motor" >> Move the head manually >> Close the lid >> Make 3 pulses)
Step 7 - Determine the Position of the Vertical Dot:
Remove the tape and determine the position of the dot.
There will only be three possible positions, center, left, and right.
1. Center position:
If your dot is at the center as in the photo above, it indicates your vertical path is good, and you can move to Step 8.
2. Left position:
If your dot is at the left as in the photo above, it indicates your vertical path needs adjustment.
How to adjust:
Please rotate each screw clockwise to raise the holder to form a gap in between and your dot should move to the right.
The gap:
After rotating the screws, apply another tape and check the new position of your dot again until the dot is at the center and you can move to the next step.
3. Right position:
If your dot is at the right as in the photo above, it indicates your laser tube's output angle is too low and it is not possible to adjust, please stop here and contact your local reseller for further assistance.
Step 8 - Tighten All the Nuts on the 3rd Mirror:
After the adjustment, tighten all the nuts in order to fix the position.
Step 9 - Re-install the Nozzle:
Install the ring first and insert the nozzle by pushing it to the top. Tighten the ring by turning the ring counterclockwise.
Step 10 - Go Back to the Standard OPA Process:
Please be aware that this instruction does not signify the completion of your OPA.
To continue with the OPA process, please return to Step 9 of the standard OPA process.
