The potential causes:
- The work area is set wrong in Beam Studio.
- The resistor/jumper on the mainboard of Beambox or Beambox Pro is in the wrong position or missing. (For Beambox and Beambox Pro only)
- The mainboard of the machine has been replaced, but the correct model wasn’t written on it.
(For Beambox and Beambox Pro only)
Step 1: Check the work area setting in Beam Studio.
Beam Studio > Edit > Document settings

Choose the correct model of your machine.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 2: Check the Jumper: (For Beambox and Beambox Pro only)
If the work area is set correctly, please open the side cover and check if the resistor/jumper is in the correct position.
Please open the side cover and see what your mainboard's version is.
- V18 version:
- V23 or V22 version: (The HDMI cable might need to be unplugged)
- If your machine is V18, please go to Step 2.1: Jumper for V18 mainboard
- If you machine is V23 or V22, please go to Step 2.2: Jumper for V22/V23 mainboard
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 2.1: Jumper for V18 mainboard
You will find the jumper on the top of the mainboard as circled in red.
Please determine if the position of the jumper is correct referring to the photos below.
If your machine is Beambox, the resistor/jumper should be in the middle.
If your machine is Beambox Pro, the resistor/jumper should be in the bottom.
- If the position is not correct, you will have to dissemble the mainboard to change the position of the jumper referring to the video where disassembly is shown.
- If the position is correct, please go to Step 3: Reset to factory
- If your jumper is missing, please go to Step 7: Report to the local reseller or FLUX Support
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 2.2: Jumper for V22/V23 mainboard
The jumper slots will look like in the photo below.
When it is installed on a machine, you can find the jumper in the gap between the mainboard and the RPi/RK board. It's a little bit hard to find. Please refer to the video for finding the jumper.
(*The jumper is at the Beamobox pro's position in the video.)
Please determine if the position of the jumper is correct referring to the photo below.
If your machine is Beambox Pro, the resistor/jumper should be at the top closer to the SD card.
If your machine is Beambox, the resistor/jumper should be in the middle.
(The example above is the jumper inserted on the Beamobox Pro's position.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 3: Reset to factory:
If the jumper/resistor is in the correct position, please reset the machine to factory.
After resetting, go to Step 4: Run a random task
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 4: Run a random task:
Please send a random task from Beam Studio to the machine and see if the problem is solved.
If the problem still persists, go to Step 5: Update the firmware to 3.5.1 or above
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 5: Update the firmware to 3.5.1 or above:
Please update or re-update the firmware to version 3.5.1 or above and run a task again as in Step 4.
The firmware file can be downloaded here.
If the problem still persists, go to Step 6: Collect information for troubleshooting
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 6: Collect information for troubleshooting:
If your machine still has a work area problem after doing the steps above, you will have to collect some information and report the case to your local reseller or FLUX support.
- Photo of the jumper's position.
- Photo of the machine page (On the panel > Main page > Machine).
After collecting the information, go to Step 7: Report to the local reseller or FLUX Support
