Description
If you feel that the distance after autofocus is not correct or not desired, or you want to increase or decrease the distance of the autofocus by yourself, beamo II has a built-in function that can adjust the distance.
Please check and adjust the focus distance according to the steps below.
The distance can be fine-tuned by ±2mm.
The purpose here is to make a distance of 8mm between the nozzle tip and the surface of the material when using the auto-focus.
Step 1
Please prepare the following materials:
- A piece of solid material such as acrylic or wood..etc. (3mm thickness is recommended)
- Coins or materials that have a thickness of 3mm - 4mm.
The coins will be used to measure the focus distance and are easier to get.
|
USD >> US quarters (25¢) x 5 pcs (1.75mm x 5 = 8.75mm) |
|
EUR >> 50 cents x 3 pcs (2.4mm x 3 = 7.2mm) |
|
TWD >> $10 coins x 4 pcs (1.9mm x 4 = 7.6mm) |
| ...etc. (You can search or measure the thickness of the coins you have) |
Step 2
- Put the material in the center of the work area.
-
Move the laser head above the material and perform auto-focus.
Step 3
Use the coins or the 8mm material(s) to measure if the focus distance is correct.
Insert the coins or the material into the gap between the material's surface and the nozzle tip.
Observe the distance to determine whether it is too long or too short.

Step 4
Go to the function to adjust the distance manually.
(Machine > Settings > Hardware Settings > Next Page > Probe error correction)
Step 5
Setting the value to “-” will lower the bed by the unit of mm.
Setting the value to “+” will raise the bed by the unit of mm.
|
Example #1: If the coins or 4mm material can't be inserted, it indicates the distance is too short, so you will have to lower the bed by setting it to a negative value. |
|
Example #2: If the gap is big after inserting the coins or 4mm material, it indicates the distance is too long, so you will have to raise the bed by setting it to a positive value. |
