Description
This article guides you through the Advanced Camera Calibration procedure.
When You Need to Calibrate the Camera Module
- After the system has been reflashed.
- If the camera module has been replaced or repositioned.
- If the captured camera preview appears distorted or abnormal.
Step 1 – Verify Software & Firmware Versions
Required Beam Studio version: 2.5.11 or later
Required firmware version: 6.1.6 or later
Step 2 – Launch the Advanced Camera Calibration
On the top toolbar, navigate to:
Machine → [Your Machine Name] → Calibration → Camera Calibration (Advanced)
Step 3 – Prepare the Checkerboard Sheet
Materials required:
One sheet of A4 white paper
Print the calibration pattern:
Download the calibration pattern and print it on A4 paper.
Step 4 – Position the Checkerboard
4-1 Place the printed checkerboard vertically on the left side of the working area.
4-2 Move the laser head above the calibration pattern, lower the probe to perform focusing, and click “Next.”
Step 5 – Capture the Calibration Pattern (Left)
Ensure the pattern is completely visible in the preview, then click “Next.”
Step 6 – Capture the Calibration Pattern (Right)
Place the calibration pattern vertically on the right side of the working area.
When it is fully visible in the preview, click “Next.”Once the calibration score shows Excellent, proceed by clicking “Next.”
If an abnormal score appears, retake the photo until a valid result is obtained.
Step 7 – Engrave the Calibration Marks
7-1 Prepare two sheets of A4 paper and tape them together to form a surface approximately 19–28 cm tall and 31–40 cm wide, or use a light-colored wooden board of similar size.
7-2 Place the prepared sheet inside the machine and secure all four corners with masking tape.
7-3 Click to begin engraving the calibration marks.
7-4 After confirming that all 16 points have been engraved, click “Next.”
Step 8 – Align the Marking Points
Zoom in, zoom out, or adjust the exposure as needed to carefully align the red markers so they precisely overlap with the engraved points.
