beamo II - FLUX Chuck Rotary - Start Engraving

Description

This article will guide you through how to start an engraving task with FLUX Chuck Rotary.
However, it is strongly recommended that you read through the FLUX Chuck Manual before your first engraving.

Unboxing

For unboxing the Rotary Chuck add-on, please refer to the manual in the link below.

Step 1

Install the beam II Extension Base Add-on, referring to the guide below.

Step 2

Turn off the machine and remove the drawer.

Step 3

Install the jaws on the rotary based on the material you will be using.
Please refer to the manual for the Jaws installation instructions.

(*It's recommended to use unwanted material for practicing and testing purposes for the first time.)

Step 4

Place the rotary in the machine and connect the cable.

Step 5

Measure your material's diameter or circumference and record it for later use.
(It's recommended to use a used material for practicing and testing purposes for the first time.)

Step 6

Grip the material with the rotary and level it.
(Please refer to the Rotary Chuck guide for gripping different shapes.)

Step 7

Turn on the machine.
Perform auto-focus on the surface of your targeted engraving area.

Move the nozzle tip to the center of the area you wish to engrave.
The red light dot indicates and determines the starting position.

Step 8

Go to "Rotary Setup" and make the changes.

1. Make sure the Rotary function is enabled. 2. Choose Chuck for the type. 3. Input the size of your material measured in the Step 5. (You can input either of the values, and the software will auto-calculate the other.) 4. If the result is bigger or smaller to your design. You can change the ratio. - Set 0.5 for being bigger. - Set above 1 for being smaller. 5. Please Ignore these features. They are not available for beamo II + Chuck.

Step 9

Go to "Document Settings" and make the changes.

1. Change the Working Area to "beamo II". 2. Change the Start From option to "Current Position". 3. For Job Origin, choose the "Center."  4. Ensure the Rotary function is enabled.

Step 10

Create an engraving object or import your own.

Depending on your design, it will usually be rotated 90 degrees to match the same orientation of the material.

Step 11

Use the "Running Frame" function to see the path of the engraving.

Choose "Framing"  to see the bounding box of the design or file. After clicking "Start",  the laser head will start moving, and the moving path will indicate the engraving area for this task. The starting point is where your laser nozzle's current position. Its path will depend on the "Job Origin" selected in the Step. When the center is selected, the starting point will be set at the design's center. The center is usually used for rotary jobs. You can move the laser head to change the engraving area until the position is accepted.

Step 12

Once you've confirmed the engraving position, set the correct speed and power rate parameters based on your material.

Step 13

Close the door and start the task.

Step 14

Check the result.

⚠︎ If you notice any abnormality in your engraving range or size (shortened or elongated), please refer to the video below to adjust the rotation scale settings.

• Set 0.5 for results being bigger. (Make the next result smaller.)
• Set above 1 for results being smaller. (Make the next result bigger.)
