Step 1
Turn off the machine, and remove the power cord.
Step 2
Open the side cover to see the machine inside.
-
Use a Philips screwdriver to open the cover.
Open the water pump cover with the Torx screwdriver.
Step 3
Unplug the cable of the X-axis motor from the mainboard. (You can also refer to the diagram.)
Step 4
Test the new X-axis motor cable by plugging it into the mainboard while the machine is off.
After that, turn on the machine to test homing.
Once the machine goes homing, the laser head will move to the top first, and then the new motor should spin "Counterclockwise."
Note:
If the new motor does not move or spins "Clockwise," please turn off the machine, replug the cable, restart it, and test again.
If the new motor still doesn't work right, please contact customer support.
Step 5
Turn off the machine, and remove the power cord.
Step 6
Remove the new motor from the system.
Step 7
Cut off the cable ties at the mainboard side. In this example, there are 3 ties. There could be more depending on the machine you have. The purpose here is to cut off the ties that tie the X-axis motor's cable.
Step 8
Loosen the two thumb screws white pulley seat on the right side, and the belt on the X-axis motor can be removed.
(The screws don't have to be removed. Unscrewing the screws to the end will be good.
The purpose here is to make the belt loose and can be unmounted from the X-axis motor.)
Step 9
Detach the X-axis motor by unscrewing the four hex screws.
The motor and the 2nd mirror assembly will then be detached.
You can leave them like this.
Step 9
Detach the cable chain joint that's connected underneath to the 2nd mirror seat.
The 2nd mirror seat can then be removed. Please keep it secure for later reassembly.
Step 10
Cut off the old motor's wires from the motor. Please try to cut the wires from as close to the old motor as possible to keep a longer length of the wires.
Step 11
Detach the plastic chain from the back side of the machine.
Remove the plastic cable chain. The cable chain joints can be opened using a small flat-head driver.
Twist the joints to disconnect the chain.
Step 12
Find the old motor cable and mark it with tape.
Cut the cable off and extract it to the water pump side.
Step 13
Fix the new motor on the machine temporarily.
Step 14 (Optional)
If your motor wires are not wrapped together as a cable, you can use tape to wrap them; it would be easier for the later action.
Please skip this step if your motor is with a cable, not wires.
Step 15
Extract the new motor's connector towards the water pump side.
Step 16
Connect the old cable with the new motor's connector using tape.
Please test the strength after the connection to ensure it is strong enough.
Step 17
Pull the rest of the cable to the back of the machine and leave a length for the cable to lie down on the bottom as shown in the video.
Step 18
Re-install the cable chain.
Please note that the correct direction for the cable chain is to face down, meaning each joint's opening will be facing down.
The chain has the correct direction as well, where the male type will go to the back of the machine, and the female type will go to the front.
Step 19
Reconnect the cable chain at the back bottom of the machine.
Step 20
Unmount the X-axis motor.
Step 21 (Optional)
If the cable is too long or too short on the motor side, you can adjust it by pulling it from the water pump side.
Step 22
Install the 2nd mirror seat and the X-axis motor.
All the cables will go through the gap between the frame and the X-axis motor.
Step 23
Reconnect the cable chain underneath the 2nd mirror seat.
Step 24
Pull the motor's cable from the mainboard side until the new motor's connector reaches the mainboard.
Step 25
Remove the tape and plug the new motor's cable into the mainboard.
(You can also refer to the diagram.)
Step 26
Mount the belt on the X-axis motor. (Make sure the teethed side of the belt is facing inside.)
Step 27
Tighten the X-axis belt by tightening the thumb screws on the right side.
Step 28
Close the side cover and tighten the screw.
Close the water pump plate.
Step 29
Check the optical path, as the 2nd mirror seat was moved during the work.
