Description
There are many reasons for being unable to connect. It may be a hardware problem, such as a control board failure, or a software problem, such as compatibility issues, network settings, environment, etc.
- If you have only tried one connection method, please go to the link and try other methods to see if they work.
- If you have tried all the connection methods and still can't connect successfully, please use a USB drive to send files while waiting for support from FLUX.
Please choose your connection method.
- A - Wireless: WIFI Dongle
- B - Wired: Router (Computer <-> Router <-> Machine)
- C - Wired: Direct Connection with Network Cable (Computer <-> Machine)
Possible Causes
A - Wireless: WIFI Dongle
Step A1
Tighten the WiFi dongle firmly, fold the antenna 90 degrees, and insert it into the machine's USB slot.
Go to NETWORK on the panel and check whether the MAC address is displayed.
Check if the MAC is shown:
Step A1.1
Plug the WIFI dongle into another USB port on the machine and check again whether the MAC address is displayed.
Check if the MAC is shown:
Step A1.2
Insert a USB flash drive into one of the USB ports. Then, determine whether the drive has been read.
Determine whether the drive has been read:
Step A1.3
Reset the machine to the factory. [Machine ➞ Reset to Factory]
Please refer to the link: 5-30 Reset to Factory
After the reset, check again if the MAC is shown.
Check if the MAC is shown:
Step A1.4
Reflash the SD card and check again if the MAC is shown.
Refer to the following links for the guide to SD card reflash.
Check if the MAC is shown:
Step A3
Try to connect to a WIFI and check if an IP address is shown.
Check if an IP address is shown:
Step A3.1
Set the connection settings to DHCP: Click the following on the machine panel,
『MACHINE ➞ Network ➞ Advanced Settings ➞ Wireless Network Advanced Settings ➞ TCP/IP Setting ➞Obtain IP Address from DHCP ➞ Apply』
After that, try to connect and see if the IP address is shown.
Check if an IP address is shown:
Step A3.2
Check if the using Wi-Fi frequency is 2.4GHz. If it's not 2.4GHz, the machine might not find the Wi-Fi name.
(Guide - getnexx.com)
Step A3.3
Confirm if the encryption type is "WPA2" or "No password needed." If not, you won't be able to connect even if you see the Wi-Fi name and enter the password. You can set the encryption type on your computer and refer to your router's instructions for detailed settings. You can also search online.
After setting up, check if the machine can connect to the network:
Step A3.4
Use the mobile's hotspot, and ensure the frequency supports 2.4GHz.
Note: The machine and your computer must be connected to this hotspot to communicate.
- For iOS, enable "Maximize Compatibility" in your personal hotspot settings.
(Guide - Apple Support Youtube) - For Android, adjust the "AP frequency" in your personal hotspot settings.
(Guide - Youtube Search)
Check if the machine can connect to the phone's hotspot:
Step A3.5
Change the hotspot's name and password.
If the hotspot name and password contain special characters or non-English or non-numeric characters, the machine connection may be problematic.
Change the Wi-Fi name to all English characters and the password to all numbers.
Recommended changes:
- Name: ABCDEFG
- Password: 12345678
Check both the machine and computer can connect to the phone's hotspot:
Step A4
Check if the IP on the machine starts with 169.254.
Valid IP formats:
- 192.168.0.0 – 192.168.255.255 (home routers)
- 172.16.0.0 – 172.31.255.255 (iOS hotspot or enterprise router)
- 10.0.0.0 – 10.255.255.255 (enterprise router)
Invalid IP formats:
-
169.254.x.x. May be caused by too many devices connected to your router or wrong DHCP settings.
- If you are not familiar with network settings, contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and ask how to enable DHCP for additional devices connected to the router.
- If you are familiar with network settings, assign a valid IP to the MAC address shown on the Network page.
Check if the IP on the machine starts with 169.254:
Step A5
Manually enter the IP in Beam Studio to make a connection between the software and the machine.
(If you are a Windows user, please select, right-click the Beam Studio app, and select "Run as administrator". Then press "yes" to run the application.)
Determine the status according to your connection method:
Step A5.1
Use Beam Studio to test the connection quality.
Connection Quality > 70, Average Response Time < 100ms indicates a healthy connection.
Check the connection quality:
B - Wired: Router (Computer <-> Router <-> Machine)
Step B1
Go to [NETWORK] and check whether the MAC address for the wired network is displayed.
Check if the MAC is shown:
Step B1.1
Reset the machine to the factory. [Machine ➞ Reset to Factory]
Please refer to the link: 5-30 Reset to Factory
After the reset, check again if the MAC is shown.
Check if the MAC is shown:
Step B1.2
Reflash the SD card and check again if the MAC is shown.
Refer to the following links for the guide to SD card reflash.
Check if the MAC is shown:
Step B2
Make sure the cables for the machine and the computer are plugged into the LAN ports on the router
Example:
Step B2.1
Go to [NETWORK] and check whether an Ethernet IP address is displayed.
Check if an IP address is shown:
Step B2.2
Switch the LAN port for the machine's cable and check the IP again.
Check if an IP address is shown:
Step B2.3
Use another RJ45 cable to connect the router and the machine. Check the IP again.
(If another cable is not available, using the computer's cable is suggested.)
Check if an IP address is shown:
Step B3
Step B4
Manually enter the IP in Beam Studio to make a connection between the software and the machine.
(If you are a Windows user, please select, right-click the Beam Studio app, and select "Run as administrator". Then press "yes" to run the application.)
Determine the status according to your connection method:
Step B4.1
Use Beam Studio to test the connection quality.
Connection Quality > 70, Average Response Time < 100ms indicates a healthy connection.
Check the connection quality:
C - Wired: Direct Connection with Network Cable
(Computer <-> Machine)
